had to dig in the crates for this but, pieces of danyel smith’s personal and professional life inspire me daily. she once shared these stories and remnants via a blog entitled ‘naked cartwheels.’ some are still on view via her personal tumblr below. it’s not the lifestyle that intrigues me, it’s her openness…the invitation into her thoughts, creative process and daily life.

brought my typewriter back home from a friend’s house today - after 3.5 years. realized i never had the chance to name it.  thinking about ‘etta.’

I still believe in Black women and friendship. For when we are in a healthy and loving place, it is Black women who are my air, who give me space to be, breathe life into me, when others would suffocate me into silence.
